嫁の妊娠72 ～嫁との久しぶりの映画で〈メアリと魔法の花〉を観た……のだけど～

嫁は毎日、みるみるお腹が大きくなっていっているように思う。

昼間は働いていて夜の９時頃に帰ってくることが多いのだが、ボクが先に帰っているときは、なぜか異様にデカくなっているように思う。

働いていたりするとどうしてもお腹が張るらしいが、それでも毎日、驚く。

すでに２人の男の子がいる兄貴夫婦にそのことを話すと、「残り２ヶ月ぐらいでもっと大きくなるぞ」と丸大ハムみたいなことを言う。

そんなわけでこれ以上お腹が大きくなると遊びに行けなくなるので、嫁は最近よく遊びに行きたいという。

ということでボクは土日は仕事を入れないようにして、先週の土曜日に久しぶりに映画を観に行った。

ただ今は夏休み商戦で、〈パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアン〉の新作（吹き替え版）、〈銀魂〉、〈忍びの国〉、〈２２年目の告白〉などなど、ほぼ邦画しか観ないボクらにとってはより取り見取りで、ピカデリー新宿のサイトを見ながら悩んでいた。

そんな中、ボクが言ってしまったのだが、正直、今となっては後悔していると言ってもいい。

「〈メアリと魔法の花〉にする？」

そもそもボクら夫婦は世間と同様、ジブリアニメ映画も大好きで、ジブリでは〈天空の城ラピュタ〉が最高傑作だと思っている。

この〈メアリと魔法の花〉は、ジブリが映画制作部を解散したときに、スタッフだった方々が独立した新会社〈スタジオ ポノック〉というところが制作しているとのこと。

ジブリ時代に〈借りぐらしのアリエッティ〉や〈想い出のマーニー〉を監督した米林宏昌さんという方が監督をしたらしい。

ただ、ここで多少の不安はあった。

借りぐらしのアリエッティも思い出のマーニーも、ジブリだという看板と、ジブリが培ってきた画力や制作センスがなければ、ボクはあまり観なくてもいいなと思える作品だった。

しかし嫁も「観ときたいかな」と賛同し、ピカデリーのポイントを使って無料で観に行くことにした。

そしていざ、映画が始まった。

……が、ストーリーが進めば進むほど、想像以上の残念が押し寄せてくる。

観終わってから感想サイトをサラッとさらってみると、ボクと同じような意見の感想が多大にあった。

とにかく、ジブリオマージュが度を過ぎすぎていて、ジブリ大好きな中国のアニメ制作会社が制作したのかと思うほどだった。

これまでの、宮崎駿さんが手がけてきた数々の名作のあらゆる部分を、手を変え品を変え、繋ぎ合わせているシーンがほとんど。ごちゃまぜジブリになっていた。

どんな場面にも、「あ、ラピュタのあのシーンだ……」「あ、魔女宅のあそこのシーン……」「あれ、これってトトロでもあった……」「ポニョに出てきた生き物……？」「ハウルも入ってる……」と、観れば観るほど、本筋のストーリーには集中できず、邪念しか生まれなかった。

でも、ここまであらゆるシーンを似せて作っていて、誰も何も言わなかったのだろうか？

ボクが何かしらで携わっていれば間違いなく、「これは絶対ダメですよ」と言っている。

後半の危機迫るシーンでは、「バルス」と言ってしまうのではないかとまで思った。

悪い意味ではなく、ジブリという偉大な看板を背負って立つだけの才能はこの監督さんにはないのだなと思った。期待値がデカすぎるのだ。

この監督さんなりのいいところもあると思うので、ジブリとは全く関係ない、それこそ新海誠監督みたいな感じでオリジナルの絵やストーリーで頑張ってほしいと思う。

ああ、あと、一応脚本家の端くれをしているボクから言うと、脚本の名前に監督の名前も入っていたが、この監督は絶対に脚本に手を出さないほうがいい。

映画館を出て嫁と韓国料理屋のランチに行き、映画の感想や評価を言い合った。

２人で納得した結論としては、『米林監督はジブリが大好きな人なんだな』ということだけが伝わってきた作品ということで満場一致になった。
