嫁の妊娠106 ～女性というものは～

この週末の３連休は、里帰りしている嫁の実家に２泊３日で泊まらせてもらった。

日曜日に遊びに来ると言っていた嫁と共通の友人がいたのだが、日曜日は果てしなく雨だったので祝日の月曜になった。

ボクは日曜で帰るつもりだったが、それもあって月曜までいることになった。

とはいっても、３日間も仕事が黙っているわけもなく、月曜の夕方から会議の仕事が入っている。

まぁそれはいいとして、久しぶりに友人の１歳の息子に会った。

ヨチヨチだが歩き始め、部屋の中を意味もなく行ったり来たりする。

嫁の実家には姪っ子のおもちゃがいっぱいあるのだが、１歳児にハマッたのはスーパーボール。

いくつも持っては、お母さんのところに運び、お母さんから渡されると元の場所に戻しに来る。が、またそれをお母さんのところに持って行く。

ボクらから見れば謎の行動だが、本人はそれが楽しいらしい。

そんなこんなでピザを取って食べたりして楽しいひと時を過ごしたのだが、お母さんになっている友人の様子を見て、なるほどなー、と感心した。

その友人は女子の中では強めな性格で、地方出身者で学生時代は昔は多少ヤンチャしていた模様。

その名残も時折ちらほら見えたりし、仕事場でも『優しい』とか『おしとやか』なんてイメージは微塵もない女子。

言ってしまえば、子供なんて嫌い、と言いそうな雰囲気。

そんな友人がどうやって子供に接するのかと思いきや、ちゃんとお母さんをやっているのである。

ニャンニャン言いながら我が子に頬ずりをしている。

抱きかかえて揺らしながら「アニャニャニャニャ……！」と子供が好きそうな擬音を連発。

産む前からは考えられない光景。

なるほど、女子はやはり子供を産み育てる遺伝子が備わった生き物なのだな、と改めて垣間見れた。

嫁の出産予定日まであとおよそ２０日。

ちなみに嫁は子供ができる前から子供が好きで姪っ子もこれでもかとあやしていたので、我が子が生まれたらどこまでエスカレートするのか一抹の不安があったりなかったり。
